Jack was born on June 16, 1944 in Bristol, England to Clarence and Grace (Harcom) Schmitt.
He was a graduate of Waukesha High School.
Jack had a special marriage of thirty years to Rosemary (Hermann) Schmitt. .
He was employed at JL French Mfg Company for many years until health issues forced him to retire.
Jack enjoyed fishing with his family, gardening, thrift store shopping, and making Dream Catchers. He especially loved his dog, Sparky, his best friend.
Jack is survived by a daughter, Kimberly L. Schmitt; two sons, Jack Daniel Schmitt and Timothy Vugrionovich; five grandchildren, Andrew Jack, Skyla Rose, Jack Anthony, Haley, and Bianca; three sisters, Sandra (Larry) Jansen, Mary Schmitt, and Geraldine (Mike) Johnson; a brother; Mark Schmitt; two brothers-in-law, Douglas DeGroff and Mark Hermann; a sister-in-law, Brenda (Gary) Herber; two nieces, Jacqueline “Angel” DeGroff and Chrissy Jansen; two nephews, Derek DeGroff, and David Jansen; four great nephews, Joshua and Nicholas Herber and Monty and Zeke Rowan; a friend, Rick; and a special friend, Lauri Weeks; and many relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by a nephew, Brandon Muckerheide; a niece, Carlene “Sissy” Jansen; and a friend, Orvile W. Jr. Turner.
A memorial service will be held at 6:00pm on Friday, January 25, 2013 at Ballhorn Chapels and Crematory. Rev.Gregory S. Whelton will officiate. A time of visitation and support will be held on Friday from 4:00pm until the time of service.
A memorial fund has been established in his name.
Jack's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Brauer, Dr. Kream, and the staff at St. Nicholas Hospital for the compassion and care shown to him.
