Hildegarde was born June 28, 1920 on the family homestead in Town Rhine to Karl and Kathryn (Mueller) Rudolph. She attended local schools and was a graduate of Plymouth High School, Class of 1937
On July 29, 1939, Hildegarde and Willard Strub were united in marriage at St. Peter Church. Willard preceded her in death on July 29, 1987.
Hildegarde was employed as an administrative secretary to the campus director at Lakeland College for over 20 years.
She was a faithful member of St. Peter Evangelical Church where she served as church organist and choir director for many years.
She enjoyed entertaining, good humor, playing piano, gardening, plus sketching and painting.
Hildegarde is survived by her sons, Dr. Charles (Sue) Strub of Monroe, Washington and Peter (Barb) Strub of Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin ; grandchildren Kathy (Spencer) Lockwood, Michael (Tina) Strub, Colin Strub and Morgan Strub; four great-grandchildren; three nieces and a nephew.
In addition to her husband, Willard, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Diane in 1954.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 4, 2012 at St. Peter Evangelical Church, W5375 Cty. Trk. FF, Elkhart Lake in the Town of Rhine. Rev. Keith Hunholz, Pastor, will officiate. A time of visitation and support will be held at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established in her name.
Hildegarde will always be remembered as a gracious and elegant lady
who loved her family and had a special passion for animals.
