Dennis was born September 30, 1932 in Faulkton, SD to Walter and Evelyn (Borgwardt) Tetschlag.
He attended Trinity Lutheran Grade School and was a graduate of Sheboygan Central High School, class of 1950, where he was a three sport athlete. Dennis also furthered his education at Arizona State University and later graduated from Tool and Die Design College.
On February 12, 1955 Dennis and Orva Hessler were united in marriage at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Cornell, WI.
Dennis was employed at Kohler Company and Verifine Dairy prior to his forty-two year career as a tool designer with Tecumseh Products in New Holstein until his retirement in 1994.
He was an Alderman of the Fourth Ward in Sheboygan for twenty-five years. Dennis was most proud of serving as the Sheboygan City Council President and on the Redevelopment Committee for many years. Most recently he was a member of the Wisconsin Tax Payers Alliance.
He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church serving on many committees. He also served as an usher for over fifty years.
Dennis enjoyed woodworking, ushering at the theater, planning his class reunions, and attending many sporting and music events for his children and grandchildren. His pride and joy was his flower garden.
In addition to his wife, Orva, Dennis is survived by four children, Brenda (special friend, Freddie Frentzel) Stolzenburg of Madison, David (Janet) Tetschlag, Janet (Gene) Renzelmann, and Scott (Kristin) Tetschlag, all of Sheboygan; eleven grandchildren, Marie Stolzenburg, Carolyn (Ted) Anderson, Kendra Tetschlag, Kyle (Gentry) Tetschlag, Kayla Tetschlag, Karlie Tetschlag, Laura Renzelmann, Joseph Renzelmann, Erik Tetschlag, Juliann Tetschlag, and Kory Tetschlag; a sister, Audrey (Lloyd) Nikisch; and many other relatives and friends.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, Donald Nikisch.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, December 21, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church. Rev. Timothy J. Mech and Rev. John M. Berg will officiate. A time of visitation and support will be held Saturday from 10:00am until the time of service. Entombment will take place at Garden Terrace Mausoleum.
A memorial fund has been established in his name.
