Anita was born February 8, 1920 in Mauston, WI to Anton John and Clara (Resch) Arens. She attended US Grant Elementary School, Sheboygan Central High School, and was a graduate of Sheboygan North High School, Class of 1939. She then worked at Hayssen Mfg. Co.
for a number of years.
On June 29, 1946 Anita and Edgar C. Zachow were united in marriage. He preceded her in death in 1999.
In 1958 Anita began employment as a cashier at Piggly Wiggly, retiring in May of 1975.
She was a faithful member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church where she served on the Altar Guild. She also was a volunteer and day manager at Bethesda Thrift Store.
Anita was an excellent homemaker who took pride in caring for her family and keeping a neat, clean home. She also enjoyed baking and gardening.
She is survived by two sons, Charles (Linda) Zachow of Niles, IL and Richard (Mary Jo) Zachow of Menomonee Falls, WI; three grandchildren, Alex Zachow, Christen (Ron) Ackerman, and Bethany (Robert) Kempfer; three great-grandchildren, Nathan Ackerman, Caleb Kempfer, and Cora Kempfer; her sister, Ceil Hartenberger of Sheboygan; her dear friend, Leonard Zimmer of Sheboygan; and other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at Ballhorn Chapels. Rev. Marcus Powers, Pastor of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, will officiate. A time of visitation and support will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in her name for Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.
