Shirley Lou Johnson

Shirley Lou Gottman was born in Shawnee, Oklahoma on 16 Feb 1936 and entered into her heavenly home on 19 Dec 2016. She married Thomas Thorton Johnson on 13 Nov 1966. She has been a lifetime citizen of Shawnee. She graduated from Shawnee High School in 1954, after graduation she was employed by ATT (Southwestern Bell), retiring after 33 years of service in 1987.

Shirley has been a member of Liberty Baptist Church since early childhood. Her parents were very faithful members of Liberty Baptist Church, making sure that their 3 children were active in all phases of worship. Among the many contributions made to her Church, Shirley most enjoyed providing the Church with the candy, fruit, and other stuffings for and helping with assembling of Christmas sacks for all the children that attended services.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, John William Gottman and Lillian Inez Boone Gottman, her sister Evelyn Marie Gottman Black and Evelyn's husband Eugene Ross Black, her niece Judith Evelyn Black, her brother John Ray Gottman, sister-in-law Willie Mae Kezer and Willie Mae’s husband Dearrel, and her niece Annett Kezer Falin.

She is survived by her husband Thomas of the home; her sister in law Josephine Gottman, Evelyn Godfrey, Benita Myrick and Carolyn Brewer and she is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and their families. Shirley will also be missed by her many friends.

Services will be held at Liberty Baptist Church on Monday, December 26, 2016 at 2:00 o'clock. Family will be receiving guest at Resthaven Funeral Home on Friday, December 23, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 o'clock.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Shirley's name to Liberty Baptist Church or to the American Cancer Society.
