Ron Sparks, 58, of Shawnee, passed away at home on February 24, 2012, in Shawnee. Ron was born to Paul Warren Sparks and Minnie Lee (Wood) Sparks on December 18, 1952 in Seminole, OK. He attended Horace Mann and Shawnee High School, and was a proud member of the Tusekia Harjo Band of the Seminole Nation Tribe. He was in the Army National Guard of Oklahoma. Ron retired as a millwright and as a superintendent from Morrison Knudson. He was known for saying, “Work smart, not hard.” Ron was preceded in death by his grandparents, Fred and Winey Wood; parents, Paul and Minnie Sparks; and his daughter, Lori Sparks. He is survived by two daughters and two sons, Valarie and husband Mark Smith and their sons, Coalton and Carson, of Tuttle; Brandi and husband Denis Dermic and their daughter, Jasmina, of Kentucky; Waylon Sparks and wife, Kassi, and their daughter, Khalli, of McLoud and Dinka Azatyan of Edmond; two brothers, Anthony Sparks of Commerce, TX and Gary Sparks of Fellows, CA; six sisters, Jean Tharp and Gary Burgert of Norman, OK, Linda Mitchell of Wilburton, OK, Vicky Ontiveros of Shawnee, OK, Jackie and Roger Paxson of Shawnee, OK, Paula Sparks and special friend Rocky Buckmaster of McLoud, OK and Teri Lance of McLoud, OK; Uncle, Tony Wood and wife, Sue, and numerous nieces, nephews, Marv Thurman, Long-time friend and many friends and family. Ron loved the Dallas Cowboys, Harley Davidson motorcycles and the American Bald Eagle. Family meant the world to Ron and his home is where everyone would gather for fun, food and lots of laughter. His visitation will be Tuesday, from 8am to 8pm, February 28th and Wednesday, from 8am to 11:30am, February 29th at Resthaven Funeral Home. His funeral service will be held 2pm, Wednesday, February 29th, 2012, at Temple Baptist Church of Shawnee with Pastor Mike Craig officiating and Pastor Robert Wood assisting the service.
