Nancy King Speaker was born on October 8, 1945 in New York City, New York. After years of world travel, higher education and years in restaurant management and broadcasting, she married Jess “Sandy” W. Speaker, Jr. in Venice Beach, California. She later gave birth to Jess W. Speaker, III in Rock Springs, Wyoming and Taren Speaker in Midwest City, Oklahoma. In the mid-80’s The Speaker family settled in McLoud, Oklahoma where her work outside the home focused on education and childhood development spending many years working in the nursery at McLoud First Baptist Church, as an in-home daycare provider, and tutoring local students living on the margins. She was a dedicated and supportive wife, mother and grandmother. In addition to her family, she found great joy and comfort in her faith, lighthouses, and Winnie the Pooh. Nancy passed away on October 10, 2024 in her home in McLoud. She is survived by her husband Sandy, son and daughter in law Jess and Monica Speaker, daughter and son-in-law Taren and Jordan Hill, grandchildren Jessica, Will, and Morgan, great granddaughter Loretta, sister and brother in law Mary and Bill Jennings, and step-sister and brother in law Laura and Daniel Daniels. A memorial service will be held at a future date. As Nancy was a breast cancer survivor, memorial donations may be made to Susan G. Komen.
