Nancy Juanita Oliver

She was born on June 4, 1943, in Bakersfield, California to Roy and Susie Smith. Nancy grew up in Oklahoma where she graduated from Central High School. While working at a radio station she met her future husband, Michael Wesley Oliver. They were married on January 15, 1965. From this marriage came two children, Michael Logan Oliver and Carla Sue Day. Nancy was a devoted wife and mother who filled her home with love and creativity.

Nancy was a woman of many talents. A master seamstress and professional cake designer/decorator, she also crafted beautiful flower arrangements and handmade goods, often selling her creations at craft shows. Her keen eye for detail came through in everything she made. Nancy has a volunteer’s heart, and gave wholeheartedly to her church, community, and those in need. Whether making goodie bags for children in foster care or providing transportation for others, she was always serving. She gave so much of her self and her time.

She was a dedicated member of her church, Evangelistic Center for 50 years, where she and Mike taught in Children’s Church. Nancy worked on the Passion Play, making costumes, which was a huge feat! She was also a big part of “Women’s Aglow” for many years. Most recently Nancy devoted countless hours collecting items for, and creatively filling, shoeboxes for Franklin Graham’s ‘Operation Christmas Child’.

Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Michael; parents, Roy and Susie Smith; sister, Freda Smith; brother, Fred Smith, and grandson, Dion Robinson.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Brooke Oliver; daughter and son-in-law, Carla and Derron Day; grandsons, Nick (and Amy) Flesher, Easton Oliver, Keaton (and Elizabeth) Robinson, Scott (and Tayler) Justice, Matthew Torres and Sean Robinson; great-grandchildren, Scarlett and Miles Robinson, Faith and Amiyah Robinson, and Hendrix Robinson, and Klaycee Billy; sisters, Joyce Bishop and Phyllis Stockton, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
