LaRuth Louise Davis was born September 25, 1928, to Thomas Casey Collins and Lillie Mae Starks Collins in Weleetka, Oklahoma. They moved to Shawnee, Oklahoma when she was two years of age. LaRuth attended Dunbar school.
She met Roosevelt Wilson Davis Sr., and they married on April 22, 1946 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. To this union 11 children were born. LaRuth loved serving the Lord. She was a member of Faith Connection church. She would witness to anyone wherever she went. She read her Bible faithfully. She loved taking her children to church where she began her daughters (The Davis Sisters) singing at early ages. She worked at Oklahoma Baptist University as Head Cook for years before she went to COJTC (Central Oklahoma Juvenile Treatment Center) and worked until she retired.
LaRuth was preceded in death by her husband Roosevelt Davis Sr., Daughter, Rosetta Davis Henderson, Sons, Tommy Davis and Kenneth Davis. Parents, Thomas Collins and Lillie Mae Collins, Brother, Thomas Eugene Collins. Granddaughter Mary M. Davis, Daughter-in-law Mary Rogers Davis and Son-in-law Rick Sanders.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories to her children, Sons, Roosevelt Davis Jr (Angela), Norman Davis of Shawnee, OK. Daughters, Sylvia Davis-Price (Troy), JoAnn Sanders, Tina Davis of Shawnee, OK. Lillie Black (Elwood Jr) of Edmond, OK, Vernanell Richardson (James Jr) of Muskogee, OK, Maxine L. Davis and Bonus Daughter Anna Rackley of Shawnee, OK.
31 grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and loved ones.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 16, 2022, from 4-8 pm at Resthaven Funeral Home. A Home Going service will be held Thursday, November 17, 2022, at 1 pm at Calvary Baptist Church.
