Joyce Etta Hamblin

Joyce Etta Hamblin passed away at her home in Shawnee, Oklahoma on October 28, 2023 at the age of 81. Joyce was born on October 16, 1942 in Claremore, Oklahoma. Her parents were Andrew and Susie Narcomey of Del City, Oklahoma.

Joyce graduated from Del City High School and went to Oklahoma Baptist University for three years. She lived with family in Oklahoma before moving to Kansas, then Michigan, and back to Oklahoma. Joyce studied art at Kansas University and developed a passion for drawing, painting, sculpture, and other creative arts. She sang in choirs and with the Native Praise singing group when she returned to Oklahoma. Joyce was a loving daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother having spent most of her years as a homemaker.

Joyce accepted Christ at the age of 13 and was baptized. She read her Bible regularly, taught Sunday School classes, and was very involved in all the churches she attended. Her home church was Wallace Baptist Church of Shawnee. She was happily married to Ralph M Hamblin for 59 years until her death.

Joyce is preceded in death by her mother and father; sons Mahtoh and Donnie; and grandparents.

She is survived by her husband, Ralph M Hamblin of Shawnee; son Andy Hamblin and wife Kris of Savoy, Illinois; daughter Jeanelle Lowe of Shawnee and grandchildren Troy of Las Vegas, NV, Winonah Hamblin and Wesley Lowe of Shawnee, and great grandson Jace Hamblin of Shawnee; daughter-in-law Rachel Hamblin, Polacca, AZ and grandchildren Andrew, Jacob, and Cameron Hamblin of Phoenix, AZ.

A funeral service for Joyce will be held Friday, November 3, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Wallace Baptist Church, 805 W Ayre St, Shawnee, OK 74801, with Pastor Blake Martin officiating. Following the funeral service will be a committal from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Resthaven Memorial Park, 16006 S Rock Creek Rd, Shawnee, OK 74801.
