“Granny Tine”
A. Christine (Outlaw) Meyer, 97, departed this life on January 12, 2011 in Shawnee, Oklahoma She was a long time resident of Shawnee and was born October 25, 1913 in Boneville, Mississippi to Noah Irvin and Maggie (Morris) Outlaw. She moved to the Shawnee area with her parents and her two brothers, Artis J. Outlaw and Noah Vandiver “Van” Outlaw in 1924.
She met the love of her life and married Fred J. Meyer, October 18, 1928 in Tecumseh. They were blessed with one daughter, Annie Margaret “Mart” Meyer and enjoyed 72 years of blissful marriage. She was employed by Hamburger King, OBU Post Office and was a super homemaker.
Christine was a longtime faithful member of the Fairview Baptist Church. She had a great love for the Lord, her family, her church family and served many years teaching little children in her church. She was active and always willing to serve in any capacity needed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, husband, daughter, grandson John Quillen, and nephews Ed Mize and Roy Van Outlaw of Shawnee, Oklahoma.
Her survivors from Mississippi are; 2 granddaughters, Linda and Lynn Norris of Tupelo, Cindy and Jackson “Sparkey” Bailey of Fulton; grandson, Kent Quillen of Dennis; four great grandchildren, Chris and Andrea Long of Saltillo, Derek and Christy Long of Tupelo, Nikki Sanders of Fulton, and Trevor Bailey of Fulton; 5 great-great grandchildren, Eliza Long, Abbie Grace Long, Cooper Long, Drew Long and Mattox Freeman; two sister-in-laws, Mildred Outlaw of Dennis and Geraldine Outlaw of Shawnee, Oklahoma; four nieces, Barbara and Burl Vanlandingham of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Dorothy and Harry Orahood of Oklahoma City, Janie Browning of Luka, Mississippi and Judy and David Palmer of Baldwin, Mississippi; three nephews, Lynn Meyer of California, Bob Mize of Norman, Oklahoma and Jimmy Meyer of Supulpa, Oklahoma. Also, she is survived by many, many friends, neighbors and other family members.
Services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Friday, January 14, 2011 at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Wayne Knight and Pastor Chuck Utsler. Interment will follow at the Resthaven Memorial Park. Services are under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.
