July 7, 1927 – March 12, 2018 – 90 years old
Bradie Winrow was born in Earlsboro, OK during the oil boom. The eldest of 11 children, Bradie grew up picking cotton under the summer sun in a field at Earlsboro, OK. She started her life in a segregated world in deep poverty. Bradie worked hard to use her time and talents to serve Shawnee, OK and the surrounding area. She was a 1974 graduate of Oklahoma Baptist University and became a kindergarten teacher. She loved children and was a volunteer to help educate young people. Throughout her many years of community service and achievements, she was the first black woman appointed as Shawnee Commissioner on the Shawnee Urban Renewal Authority, Shawnee School Board of Education member, member of the Coalition for the Advancement of Self-Sufficiency, the first black woman elected to Shawnee City Commission and highlighted as an Uncrowned Queen in Oklahoma.
Her family will cherish her memory, three children, Billy Webber, Gary Webber and LaDonna Booker; five sisters, Anna Brown, Ollie Henix, Laverne Doolittle, Loretta Collins and Sonja Cason and three brothers, Robert, John and Joe Winrow. Preceding her in death was Archile Webber Sr., whom she had been married to for over 20 years, her son, Archile Webber Jr., and two brothers, Freeman and Orlando Winrow.
Visitation is 8am-8pm, Friday, March 16, 2018 at Resthaven Funeral Home. Ms. Winrow’s celebration of life will be at the Resthaven Memorial Park, Shawnee, OK, Saturday, March 17, 2018, at 3:00 pm.
