She was born in Shawnee, OK to Ernest and Naomi Wickware on December 3, 1943. She was a resident of Shawnee for most of her life. Barbara graduated from Shawnee High School in 1961 and later attended Seminole Junior College. She married Joe D. Smith, and together they had 4 children: Stacey Smith, OKC, OK, Neovella Smith, Broken Arrow, OK, Joe S. Smith, Shawnee, OK, and Lana and (Steve Rivera), Fort Polk, LA. Grandchildren: Natahlie and (James Miner), Tulsa, OK, Aaron and (Maggie Smith), Shawnee, OK, Breanna and (Nick Sebourn), Shawnee, OK, Alyssa and Alyvia Rivera, Fort Polk, LA. Great-grandchildren: Palmer and Chapel Miner, Tulsa, OK, Sawyer Sebourn, Shawnee, OK, Nevaeh and Logan Smith, Shawnee, OK. She also has many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Barbara is preceded in death by her father Ernest Wickware, her mother Naomi Wickware, and her brother Larry Wickware.
Barbara is survived by her sister, Louvilla (Wickware) Dame, Elizabeth, CO.
Barbara loved children. She devoted most of her life to caring for children. She was most proud of her position as a House Mom at the Youth and Family Resource Center (Hope House) in Shawnee.
Barbara loved visiting with friends, playing the piano, listening to music, and watching old movies with her children and grandchildren.
