Dee and Juanita both worked for Gates Rubber Co. in Denver. Dee was safety Fire Chief and Juanita was an Administrative Secretary. Due to severe arthritis, Dee took early retirement and moved to Phoenix, Arizona for health reasons. Juanita later retired and joined him. They lived in Phoenix until Dee's death in October 2002.
Since Juanita had no family in Arizona, in 2007 she chose to move to Ohio to be close to her Sister-in-Law, Naomi Kennedy and family. She lived in the Earl Maag Senior Center in Marrow. She was always an active participant in all the activities and enjoyed and appreciated the love and concern of the management staff and residents.
