Robert Truett West

The family moved to Andrews, NC where he graduated from Andrews High School in 1962 and then attended Mars Hill College, now University, where he graduated in just 3 years with a BS in Math. He taught math for over 30 years in middle and high schools in Bakersville, Asheville, and Greensboro, NC. After retiring, he worked in many different capacities as a boat captain in LA, SC, and NC.

In 1999, he met the love of his life and married Joanne in 2002. He was a member of Sharon Methodist Church in Supply, NC and could be found working alongside the men of the church doing various projects.

He is survived by his wife Joanne West; daughters, Donna Marlow (Will) and Michelle West; stepson Timothy ‘Tyler’ Clark; stepdaughter Robin Jeffreys (Morris); step-granddaughters Sarah Chomate (Julien), Sydney Clark, and Katelyn Jeffreys; and step-grandson Matthew Jeffreys.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 1, 2024 at eleven o'clock in the morning at Sharon Methodist Church, 2030 Holden Beach Road SW, Supply, North Carolina.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from ten o'clock until eleven o'clock at the church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of him to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, ALSAC/St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or to Sharon Methodist Church.
