Affectionately known as Bob, he was born on March 21, 1939, to Bernard and Marie Nobes in Rochester, New York. Bob grew up alongside his brother James Nobes, who preceded him in death. He was the beloved husband of Marianne Nobes, with whom he shared 56 years of love, laughter, and cherished memories. Bob is survived by his loving children, Scott and Suzanne, and three adored grandsons, Damien, Alexander, and Scott Jr.
A proud veteran, Bob enlisted in the Army at a young age, where he served as a communication technician. His dedication to his country was a testament to his character and sense of duty.
Following his military service, Bob embarked on a remarkable career in the grocery business, spanning over 50 years. Throughout his career, he held various roles, each marked by his unwavering reliability and dedication to his team. Bob was respected and admired by his peers and staff for his commitment to excellence and his willingness to lend a helping hand whenever needed.
In 2001, Bob and Marianne retired to Brierwood Estates in Shallotte, North Carolina, where they enjoyed the tranquility of coastal living. Bob was known for his vibrant personality, infectious laughter, and warm smile. He had a knack for storytelling and could always be counted on to lighten the mood with his quick wit and humor.
Bob found immense joy in the company of family and friends, relishing in gatherings filled with laughter and camaraderie. He had a passion for bowling, travel, and all the simple pleasures life had to offer. However, his true passion was golf, a game he enjoyed playing, watching, and discussing with fellow enthusiasts.
Bob leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories that will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of crossing paths with him.
A Celebration of Life will be held at ten o'clock in the morning on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at St. Brendan’s Catholic Church, where friends and family will gather to honor and remember the remarkable life of Bob. Inurnment will follow in the church columbarium.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association in honor of Bob's memory.
