Robert "Junior" Lee Hughes Jr.

Mr. Hughes was born in Thomasville, North Carolina on March 9, 1953 and was the son of the late Robert Lee Hughes, Sr and Ruby Hill Hughes. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Melissa Louise Hughes, a sister, Libby Hughes Hunt and his fur baby,Gizmo. He was an avid Dirt Track Racer. Junior loved playing his guitar and singing for the Lord at Liberty Tabernacle of Shallotte where he was a faithful member.

He is survived by his wife, Candy Hughes of the home; three step-children, April McFayden and husband Zach of Tarboro, North Carolina, Matthew Overcash and Mark Overcash of Albemarle, North Carolina; grandchildren, Madison Lee Williams, Andrew Gordon Williams, III. "AJ", Vlad Coppock, Nadia Orr, Jacob Keel, Trace Keel and Lyndsey Keel; one great-granddaughter, Esme Orr. Also his mother in-law, Sylvia Bailey.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday January 28, 2025 at eleven o'clock in the morning at White Funeral and Cremation Service Lou White Memorial Chapel, 3660 Express Drive, Shallotte with Pastor Deborah Blythe of Liberty Tabernacle, Pastor Toney Parsons of Gold Hill Baptist Church, Gold Hill, NC and Pastor Eddie Hill of Panther Creek Baptist Church, Asheboro, NC officiating.

Burial will follow at Center Methodist Church Cemetery, 126 Center Church Road, Troy, NC
