Rebecca was born December 6, 1947 in Thomasville, North Carolina, daughter of the late Edward Cranford and Ruth Carter Cranford. She and her family moved to Supply, North Carolina in 1989 where she made her home until 2005 when her husband Larry Smith died. Rebecca and her late husband owned Shallotte Upholstery for fifteen years. She worked in Winding River as a Security Guard until her retirement in 2011. Her hobbies included listening to gospel music, playing Phase 10, and quilting. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Jimmy Cranford, Gilda Cranford, Vicki Ludlum, and grandson, James Smith.
Survivors include her children, Rodney Smith and wife Kathy of Supply, North Carolina, Teresa Smith of Mt. Airy, Michael Cranford of Thomasville, North Carolina, Terri Smith of Bolivia, North Carolina, Tonya Smith of Lebanon, Tennessee, Scotty Smith and wife Marianne of Greenville, North Carolina, and Tracy Parker and husband Jeremy of Ash; sister, Nancy Parson of Wallburg, North Carolina; brother, Jeffrey Cranford of Wallace, North Carolina, grandchildren, Courtney Neeley, Cord Lambeth, Whitney O'Neal, Wyatt Suggs, Weston Suggs, Rebecca Cranford, Natalie Smith, Elizabeth Hewett, Darien Hewett, Michael Smith, John Smith, Kevin Smith, Isaac Parker, and Selah Parker; and several great grandchildren.
