Ray...
I love you.. You were such an amazing kind and caring person. I will never forget your kindness after the loss of Joe.  I want your children to know how you helped me through 9-11. So gracious and so giving.  I will never forget you.  You walked into my house after 9-11 and dropped an envelope. You told me we were never to speak of it. You left money for me and my children. I just heard of your passing and it makes me so sad but I know you are at peace and with the angels.

Ray lived a couple houses down from me at Ocean Isle Beach. I first met him on the beach there. He was very friendly and talkative. The second time I saw him we were both fishing on the beach. He came over and offered me bug spray (the biting flies were bad that day) and gave me a bunch of grapes. Another time on the beach while fishing he gave me a satellite sinker and instructed me on the best way to use it. Many have mentioned how giving Ray was and I was certainly on the receiving end of his generosity. You just could help but like the guy. I’ll miss you Ray and I’ll think of him every time I’m fishing on the beautiful Ocean Isle Beach. My condolences and heartfelt sympathies to Maria and Ed. You and your family are in my prayers.

Sending much love and condolences for your loss. Ray was a great guy and a great friend. We made lots of memories together. I met him doing what he did best, Real Estate. He was a natural. He was a friend like no other. We both came from different worlds and yet we had so much in common. We enjoyed fishing together and would spend many hours on the water talking and laughing. Ray’s laugh was contagious. He was always smiling and saw the best in people. Life happened, he moved to North Carolina, and although we didn’t talk all the time, one phone call brought us right back to where we left off. Rest In Peace buddy, your friendship lives on in my heart.  

Ray was my best friend for 43 years. He was full of life and vigor. He lit up every room he walked into with a warm, friendly smile. His charm was intoxicating; you couldn’t help but instantly adore him.  He was extremely loyal, brilliant, funny, and the most generous man I've ever known. He had sunburn on his shoulders from taking the shirt off his back for everyone. I believe that Ray’s life was a seed. As the scripture says, “As you sow, you shall reap.” All the seeds of generosity that Ray sowed didn’t translate to a commensurate harvest during his lifetime, but I believe that God will bestow that harvest upon Ray’s children, Matthew and Gracie. Rest in peace, my friend.

The first time I meet Ray Cooper was to view his home to go on the Sloane Rental program. Ray was such a positive, high energy person and so full of life. From the day I meet Ray, I knew family was extremely important to him. I wish I had known what was going on with him. About 2 months ago he called my cell phone but didn’t leave a message, wish I would have answered or called back. I’m so sorry Ray that you felt there was no other alternative. The world lost a smart, funny and all around good guy! Rest In Peace! Becky Smith 

What can one write to sum up over 35 years of heartfelt friendship; we met in college and you became a 2nd brother to me; I will miss your never-ending friendship, good advice, brilliant wit and our laugh filled conversations.  The world will be inevitably darker now that the light of your beautiful soul has left us.  There are no words adequate to express the devastation of losing you my dear friend Ray.

We are so sorry to hear of Ray's passing.  He was a wonderful, kind and caring person.  He would come in at Sheffield's with a smile on his face, and leave with a smile on ours.  Even on the days when we knew he didn't feel like smiling.  We  will  surely miss him and always remember him.  He came in on the day before and our last memory of him was of him laughing. I am so sorry to hear of Ray’s passing. We were childhood friends but loss touch when my family moved away. He was a kind friend and like neighborhood children do, we’d  scuffle and always come back together better friends. I’ll always remember his gentle way and kind smile. Rest In Peace Raymond. Ray, was another brother to me growing up.  I looked up to him, he was always driven, disciplined and smart.  He was truly a selfless person took care of his friends and family first.  We had some rough experiences together and supported  eachother through our own parents divorces.  Always there to listen help the other see light at the end of the tunnel.  I had a few memories of Ray just last week, now I know that was the universe whispering a friend may be in need. Always heed the call of the universe.  I pushed off calling you Ray.  Well my brother I hope you find peace now. The world is missing a truly unique and classy individual.  Strength and peace To Rays Mom who we loved growing up as well, to his brother and sister and anyone else who he graced and loved on this earth!

My thoughts and prayers are with Raymond Cooper and his family during this difficult time. I am saddened to hear of Ray's passing. I have nothing but fond memories of Ray. 

When growing up with Ray on the mean streets of Bay Shore, I remember Ray always had an angle to make us all productive. He was respectful, intelligent, a leader, and always helpful to his fiends and family. Ray would first put the oxygen mask on others who surrounded him before he considered his own. 

Raymond Cooper was a mentor to me. He tutored several of us through school, and in part, is responsible for our successes. 

Raymond Cooper, if your reading this, I am sorry the GPS broke that time you loaned it to me to get my girlfriend and I to Great Adventure. I am certain,  you will not need it in navigating the directions to Heaven above.

We are heartbroken to hear about Ray. I only have fond memories of all the fun times growing up together. We spent many days on the great South Bay as kids clamming and surfing and skim boarding.  Ray Cooper was one of the greatest people anyone could ever know. He never let anybody down and he was always there for you. He was there for me when my son had cancer and he was my greatest childhood friend, never betrayed anyone and had the greatest sense of humor and a heart filled with generosity.
