He was born on April 11, 1951 to the late Edgar Matteson and Violet Matteson in Middletown Springs, Vermont.
Those left to cherish his memory is his wife, Shirley Matteson; stepdaughters, Walleta Wideawake (husband, Gerald), Christine Reves, Christian Tober (husband, Arthur); brother, Danny Matteson (wife, Ida); sister, Mary Vargo; fourteen grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren.
Michael was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He enjoyed reading and watching Westerns and collecting wolf and indian culture figurines. He had worked in the stone and milling industry until his health declined in the late 90's. Nature and farming were his passion.
A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00AM on Monday, May 13, 2024 at White Funeral and Cremation Service in the Lou White Memorial Chapel located at 3660 Express Drive, Shallotte, North Carolina.
