Mikey was born November 3, 1960 in Arlington, Virginia, son of Nancy Hughes Marley and the late John William Marley, Jr. He worked as a truck driver before moving to North Carolina. Mikey retired from Home Depot after 19 years. He enjoyed listening to rock music, telling "Dad" jokes, eating crab legs. He could be found at the local music concerts in Holden Beach on Sunday afternoons. While his health allowed, he enjoyed spending time at the beach. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law Walter Mountjoy.
Survivors include his children, Michael David Marley, Jr. and wife Mary Marley of Seattle, Washington and Rosie Marley and boyfriend William Weihrauch of Surfside Beach, South Carolina; sisters, Nancy Stoepker and husband Scott and Diane Mountjoy; and brother Billy Marley.
