John Paul Downer Sr.

Mr. Downer was born in Cross Anchor, S.C. on March 31, 1936 and was the son of the late John B. Downer and Jennie Mills Downer. He was a retired cabinet builder. Preceding him in death was a son, John Paul Downer, Jr.; his brothers, Ray Downer, J.B. Downer, Sam Downer; his sisters, Mary Gruber, Ruby Manley, Betty Milliken, Dorothy Cox, and Joy Benton.

He is survived by a son Thomas E. Downer,and wife Kathy of Whiteville, N.C.; a daughter Brenda Fox and husband John of Longs, S.C.; a brother Thomas Downer; eight grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. Also left to cherish his memory, is Christine Phillips and her sons, Ray Duncan and James Phillips, and their families.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at 12:00pm at the Lou Ellen White Memorial Chapel of White Funeral and Cremation Service, 3660 Express Dr. Shallotte, NC.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, from 11:00 until 12:00 at the funeral home.
