James Douglas "Jimmy" White

Mr. White was born in Columbus County on September 3, 1943, son of the late Herman Lee White and Essie Ludlum White. In addition to his parents, his son, Gary White, two brothers, Eddie C. White, and John W. “Bub” White, and a sister, Jeanette W. Campbell, also preceded him in death. Jimmy was a founding member and deacon of Emmanuel Outreach Church. He enjoyed listening to and singing gospel music and once was a member of The Gospel Way Quartet. He retired from the aircraft division of General Electric in Wilmington.

Survivors include his wife Stella White of the home; a son, James E. White and wife Sondra of Ash; three grandchildren, Joshua James White, Madison W. Batten and husband Brett and Lori Grace White; two great grandchildren, Anastasia Renee White and Amelia Loraine Batten ; a brother, Junior White and friend Ann of Supply; and a sister, Lynda Simmons and husband Fred of Supply.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 20, 2024 at eleven o'clock in the morning in Lou White Memorial Chapel of White Funeral and Cremation Service, 3660 Express Drive, Shallotte, North Carolina with Reverend Donnie Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Full Life Fellowship Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from ten o’clock until eleven o’clock in the morning at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Scottie Lee Babson, Brett Babson, Brett Batten, Dewayne McCumbee, C.E. Gore, and Kenneth Lane Canady. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Benton, Richard Nobles, and James Cain.
