Dorothy Ida Davis Boyd

Dorothy loved her family and her church family. She was a founding member of St. James the Fisherman Episcopal Church in Shallotte. She worked many years as a Teacher Assistant at Union Elementary and delighted in helping children learn. She always loved seeing her former students! Her main pastime was reading, especially Christian romance, cozy mysteries, and her favorite Harry Potter series. She loved gardening and flowers, word games, and watching her beloved Shallotte River. She adored her grandchildren and being Mom Mom to her great-grandchildren.

She is survived by daughter, Dawn Ellen Boyd Nubel Amundson (Jon) of Mesquite, NV; son Samuel "Sandy" Varnam Boyd, Jr. (Tina) of Hampton, VA; and her cat-child, Sky, of the home. She is also survived by "bonus" sons Mark Boyd (Lori) of Shallotte; Joey Caison (Candy) of Supply; Chris Cook of Whiteville; and niece/"bonus" daughter Sharon Davis, of Ocean Isle; and sister Olive Taylor of Cary.

She was preceded in death by step-daughters Mary Boyd and Kathy Tysinger, and grandson Brandon Tysinger.

A memorial service will be held at a later date and will be announced.
