Mike was born in Dunlow, West Virginia to Samuel J. Perry and Irene Mae (Elster) Perry. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and served in Vietnam. He was proud to serve our country. Mike spent most of his work career working as a high voltage electrician with Washington DC Subway System. He retired from there and moved down to sunny Brunswick Plantation in Calabash where he enjoyed golfing, fishing, volunteering, and reading his Bible. He also loved walking the pups and meeting the neighbors who fondly referred to him as Mr. Mayor of Edenton. Mike never met a stranger and was a friend to many. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Juanita June Wood, James Douglas Perry, Walter Jennings, and Mildred Smoak.
Survivors include his wife of 40+ years, Cheryl Naar Perry of Calabash; son, Alex Perry and fiance' Angie Butcher of Logan, West Virginia; daughter, Courtney Inabinet and husband Eli of Wilmington: father-in-law, Robert Naar; granddaughters, Alexis Perry and Allison Perry; sister, Sandra Ellison and husband Charles of Augusta, Georgia, sister in-law, Janet Perry of Cincinnati, Ohio; brother-in-law, Dykes Smoak of Holly Hill, South Carolina; sister-in-laws, Wendy Naar, Jann Caspersen, both of Calabash, and Robin Naar of Atlanta, Georgia; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 3, 2022 at one o’clock in the afternoon at White Funeral and Cremation Service, 3660 Express Drive, Shallotte, North Carolina.
