Betty Jean Evans

She was born on December 4, 1931 to the late Luby Johnson Merritt and Mabel Bailey Merritt in Wayne County, North Carolina.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Ashley Evans.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Betty Gail Corn (husband, Gary), Joan Elaine Grady, Caroline Evans Beaudry (husband, Charles); brothers, Pete Merritt and Bobby Merritt; grandchildren, Kenneth Corn, Liam Beaudry, and Eli Beaudry; great grandchildren, Nathan Corn, Ashley Banning, Peter Corn, C.J. Corn; and great great grandchild, Eleanor Rose Banning.

Betty Jean Merritt participated in the Eastern Star Organization while her mother was Grand Matron of the Eastern Star at one time. She enjoyed gardening, flower arranging, working with her husband's stained glass art and they both enjoyed running marathons and bicycling.
