Armand Joseph "Joe" Hamel

Joe was born December 27, 1944 in Rhode Island, son of the late Arthur Joseph Hamel and Cecile Gagnon Hamel. He served in the United States Army. Before moving from Massachusetts he was a master beekeeper and was awarded Beekeeper of the Year. After moving to Carolina Shores he was a member of Ocean View Baptist Church and served in various capacities. Joe enjoyed photography and was a member of Coastal Carolina Camera Club where he created their video slide shows. He especially enjoyed taking nature and family pictures. He was very knowledgeable in electronic repairs and enjoyed working on computers. Joe had a servant’s heart and was a friend to many. He loved cooking meals for his friends and gardening. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Richard John Hamel.

Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Nancy Hamel of Carolina Shores; children, Christina Rogers and husband Steven of Santa Barbara, California, Lisa Smith and husband Dan of Melrose, Massachusetts, and Stephen Hamel of California; and three grandchildren, Mark, Dylan, and Mila Anne.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
