WRIGHT, Robert A. “Bob”, 95, of Largo, Florida, passed away August 3, 2014 at Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater, Florida. He was born March 25, 1919 in Brookline, Massachusetts, the son of George and Grace (Cummings) Wright. He graduated from High School in 1938 in Brookline, Massachusetts. Bob served in the U.S. Army from February 1941 to July 1945 during WWII. As a First Sgt. of Medical Company, he spent 37 months in E.T.O. He took part in the initial landings on Sicily and Normandy and participated in engagements in Italy and France. He received the Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Medal, European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon with Bronze Arrowhead, and in January of 2013, he received the French Medal of Honor at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida. Bob owned and operated Wright Brothers Contracting and was a member and Chaplain for VFW Post 7938 in Largo, Florida.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Dora; brothers, Donald, Fred, George, and John; sister, Eileen. Survivors include his wife, Phyllis C; daughters, Donna W. Rosas, and her husband Wayne Sherman, Beth Wright Molloy, and her husband Gerald P. Molloy (deceased), Susan Wright, and her husband Albert Babel; a sister, Marie O’Donnell; grandchildren, Paul Molloy, Robyn Langmead, Scott Molloy, Erin Molloy, Randy Morse, Shannon Recco, Tracy Ryle, Caitlin Sullivan, Lyndsey McGuire, Courtney Lyons, Amy Gentz, Cara McGuire, and Colin McGuire; great grandchildren, Aaron and Cadence Langmead, Riley Sullivan and Owen Ryle.
The family would like to send a special “Thank You” to all the Doctors, Nurses, Dialysis Personel, Nursing Assistants and Friends and Neighbors that assisted Bob over the years.
A Memorial Mass celebrated 10:00am Thursday, August 7, 2014 at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Clearwater, Florida. Interment will follow at Garden Sanctuary Cemetery in Seminole, Florida. A Memorial Service with Military Honors will follow the interment at 1:00pm at Ranchero Village Park in Largo. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
