Richard was born December 11, 1945, in Libertyville, Illinois. He was the self professed “favorite”, beloved son of Robert and Marian Folger.
Rich was a passionate football fan. He started his love of the game early by playing for the Deerfield High School Warriors. Where he created loving, long-lasting friendships. Many of his friends have numerous stories of their time with Rich while he worked at the local gas station, drank irreparably, sang loudly (mostly to the Doobie Brothers), and thoroughly enjoyed life.
He volunteered for service in the United States Air Force in 1965 and served in the Vietnam War. His quick smile and ability to make a deal made him a most valued and loved Supply Sergeant.
After his service, he travelled the country as a long haul truck driver, owned a “Packer Bar” in California (Cheeseheads are everywhere), and became a top sales person for Mayflower/United moving.
Rich never met a stranger, loved to tell stories, enjoyed fishing (although he rarely caught anything), and golfed as much as he could. Above everything else, he loved the Green Bay Packers. The Los Angeles Dodgers took a close second place. He spent as much time as possible at Lambeau Field watching the Packer’s play. He enjoyed sharing a cold brew and his love of football with his family and friends.
Rich was involved in Abundant Life Ministries, where he served as a greeter and worked at the food pantry. His love of the Lord was an important part of his life. He created profound relationships within the church and his community.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Betty Folger, who he loved move than anything. Other surviving family include: a step-daughter, Tina Blaser of Kenosha, Wisconsin; a son-in-law Bill Boss of Kenosha, Wisconsin; a grandson, Cody Blaser of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; a sister, Shirley (Don) Virchow of Holiday, Florida, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and other dear relatives.
