FL after her courageous battle with cancer. She was 89 years old, just shy of reaching her 90th
birthday.
Pat was born in Philadelphia PA to loving parents Edward and Regina Hartsough. She was
preceded in death by her older brother Edward Hartsough and is survived by her younger sister
Regina Flanagan.
Pat graduated from St Mary's Academy, Philadelphia in 1951 and went on to the University of
Pennsylvania where she majored in journalism. While at Penn she also competed in swimming
and was on the JV basketball team (along with Lizanne Kelly, Grace Kelly's sister). lt was at a
church dance that she met the love of her life, Louis Masucci, who was studying at LaSalle
University and on his way to becoming an officer in the US Marine Corps (Semper Fi). Pat
would tell the story about how she saw Lou from across the dance floor and confided in her
friends that "there is the man I am going to marry". . . And indeed she did!
Pat and Lou were blessed with a loving marriage full of faith and devotion, and would have
celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in June 2023. Together they had six children:
Patricia Schwab, Barbara Masucci, Michael Masucci, Victoria Kropp, Paul Masucci and
Gregory Masucci, as well as fifteen adored grandchildren and five wonderful greatgrandchildren.
Pat's priorities were family, faith and country, to which she dedicated herself with a selfless
spirit and tireless effort. After moving to Palatine, lL she became an officer in the Women's Club
and President of the Newcomers' Club. She engaged her creative and entrepreneurial talents
running a successful clothing shop in Long Grove lL. She spent twenty years as a real estate
broker in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago and was a top producer. ln addition, Pat worked
for many years as an election judge in the Chicago area.
Pat always enjoyed making new friends wherever she went, she never met a stranger. Pat
treasured her many friends and served them in their time of need, often hosting prayer
gatherings at her home. For several years she was a Eucharistic Minister for her church,
Blessed Trinity Catholic Church in St. Petersburg FL, when Lou would chauffeur her around the
area on Sundays and she would bring Holy Communion to the sick and homebound members
of the parish. More recently Pat served as a Welcome Ambassador at Freedom Square in
Seminole FL where she helped new residents acclimate to their new home. Pat was most in her
glory when surrounded by her family. Whether playing tennis, board games or just sitting and
talking, there was always plenty of laughter. She had a great sense of humor, a generous spirit
and a knack for uplifting others' spirits.
Most importantly, she was always a loving wife and mother, a proud grandparent and great grandparent,
and a loyal friend, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
