Flynt, James W. Sr, 78, born February 27th, 1936 in Atlanta, Georgia, passed away peacefully while at home on December 2nd, 2014. He was the son of Roy Alva and Lola Taylor Flynt and had one older sister, Julia Moore Eubanks and one older brother, Roy Alva Jr. Jim married his Avondale high school sweetheart, Marie Lietch in 1957. James W. Flynt Jr was born later that year. James Sr graduated from Georgia Tech with BS in Electrical Engineering in 1961 and took a position with ECI Corporation in St.Petersburg, FL. They had their second son, Jason Wayne Flynt, in 1964. Jim enjoyed a long career, all at the same location, even though the company changed hands over the years from ECI to E-Systems, and finally as Raytheon. He also received his MBA from the Florida Institute of Technology, while working full-time. They lived in the Seminole area for the last 53 years, with the last 46 in their current home. After retirement, he was able to build his "dream shop" for his woodworking passion and produced multiple fine pieces of furniture and turnings. Jim and Marie were also able to enjoy various trips around the world, including Japan, Ireland, Brazil, Australia, New Zealand (his favorite), Alaska, Norway, Sweden, Germany, England and Scotland. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marie, sons James Jr (Dianna), Jason (Hazmin) and grandchildren Spencer and Chloe and his brother, Roy Alva Jr (Eleanor) and various nieces and nephews. His sharp intellect and gentle and caring personally will be missed by all those who knew him.
Visitation will begin at 10:00am Friday, December 5, 2014 at the funeral home where funeral services will follow at 11:30am. Entombment will follow at Garden Sanctuary Cemetery.
