L’Hommedieu, David Charles, 84, passed away on July 31, 2017. He was born on December 26, 1932 to Robert and Barbara Elsie (Papenfuss) L’Hommedieu in Huntington, Long Island New York. David grew up in Huntington and graduated Huntington High School in 1953. He continued his education at Drake School Inc. in New York City in the Drafting Division.
His work career began at Hazelton Electronics Corporation and on to Grumman Aerospace Corporation till leaving New York . After relocating to California he acquired work through Amtec Engineering Corporation job shopping for Hendrix & Associates as a Senior Designer in the oil refinery industry and Santa Fe Braun Inc. He left California and moved to Lake Havasu City . He took on the position of manager for a heavy equipment “ Merico’s” Rental Center. David retired to St Petersburg Florida in 1994.
David struggled through many obstacles in his life always with a big smile. He contracted polio during his Jr high school years and hospitalized @ St Charles hospital in 1947 through 1949. He broke his hip in 1974. A fractured his leg in 1995 and had cancer in 1996. He loved his country western music, NASCAR racing and the Gators foot-ball.
David is survived by the love of his life Barbara Anne (Bateman) of 49 years and 2 months also from Huntington. Bruce a brother predeceased him. There are two sisters Elizabeth Johannesen of St Petersburg FL with 7 children – John, Robert, Cynthia, Jeffrey, Bruce, Michael, Danial and Barbara Jeffery of Shirley New York with 5 children –Scott, James, Margaret, Janine, Donald and a brother of St Petersburg FL. who predeceased him; that has 2 children Bruce Jr., Michelle .There are 28 great nieces and nephews.
A service will be held on Saturday August 12, 2017 @ 3:00 p.m.with a viewing at 2:00 p.m. at Pasadena Community Church Chapel, 227 70th Street South, St Petersburg, Florida.
