Dale Warner loved life and being with people. He enjoyed singing karaoke all along St Pete Beach, being involved with veterans groups, canoeing and kayaking down Florida rivers, and staying physically fit. He loved fishing, camping, hiking and being outdoors. He had multiple melanoma tumors removed, but sadly, the cancer spread to his brain. He was the most fit 82 year old you’d ever meet, so he volunteered to try experimental treatments for the cancer. Sadly, the chemo was too hard on his body, physically fit or not, and he had a sudden cardiac arrest and died only a couple of weeks after his 2nd treatment. He left the Bay Pines VA hospital June 23rd, and passed suddenly July 13th. He was hoping to attend his youngest daughter’s wedding on July 31st, but sadly, didn’t make it.
He requested no memorial service, but his daughters will spread his ashes as he requested.
He leaves behind many friends, and three daughters, Lois Sawden of Fraser, MI, Kathi Gonzalez of Williston, FL, Kelly Roberts of Ocala, FL, a Grandson Gregory Sawden of Warren, MI, Granddaughters Jessica (Edwin) Fell of Hazel Park, MI, Jennifer, aka "Fernie" Fell of Detroit, MI, and Jaymi (Jeremy) Fell of Warren MI, Abigail and Stephanie Roberts of Ocala, FL, and numerous great grandchildren.
“THE RIVER GUY”
Dale L Warner
April 25, 1939-July 13, 2021
“When you read this, you will know that I am dead. I’ve gone to kayak that big river in the sky, or wherever.
Most of my adult life, from age 18 until age 74 I suffered from alcoholism. I got sober with AA and the Grace of God on June 7th, 2013.
I was not always a good father or husband, but I never lost a job, and always tried to pay my bills.
Life is not always fair or good, but life is a journey. I paddled down many rivers and climbed many mountains and lived a life full of adventures.
Don’t be sad for my death. I lived life to the fullest and did what I wanted to do, my way.
For my friends and family, life goes on, so ENJOY IT!
Cheers!”
