Cecilia Turner, known also as “Cil” or “Cecile,” was born on December 30, 1927 in New Bedford, Mass. She was predeceased by her parents, Agnes and Fermo Rodrigues, and her two sisters, Rose Rodrigues and Vivian R. Francis. Her husband of 50 years, Henry E. Turner, predeceased her in 2002. She is survived by her four children, Linda J. Wiltse, Gail Sullivan (James), Loey Antonucci, and Bruce A. Turner (Michelle). She is also survived by her most beloved grandchildren, Ariane Wiltse, Blaine Wiltse, Alyssa Wiltse, Renee Hudson (Dwayne), Tiffanie Richards, Brendan Sullivan (Lindsey), Alexa Turner, and Sofia Turner. Her great-grandchildren are Jayden Shivers, Noah Ahmad, Adam Ahmad, Vivian Sullivan, and Roman Hudson. She also leaves many well loved nieces and nephews. Her many friends enriched her life. She shared the final ten years of her life with her partner, Anthony “Tony” Devito.
She graduated from New Bedford Vocational High School in 1946. She was a C.N.A. since 1989. She resided in Cherry Hill, NJ before moving to Seminole, FL 33 years ago. She owned and operated Beach Treats Ice Cream and Yogurt in Indian Shores before working for Seminole schools system in the cafeteria. She was a parishioner of St. Justin Martyr Catholic Church where she was an usher for the 4:00pm Saturday mass. Since 2010, Cecilia also volunteered at the church Thrift Shoppe two days a week as a cashier.
Cecilia was always very active and enjoyed participating in the Red Hat Ladies group. She was also a member of the American Legion 252 Women’s Auxiliary and she volunteered at the Seminole Public Library. In her spare time, she enjoyed counted cross stitch, sewing, reading, ceramics, knitting, and dancing.
A visitation will be held 5-8pm Thursday, July 16, 2020, with funeral service at 6pm at Garden Sanctuary Funeral Home.
