I'll miss playing golf with Archie, mostly because he would mess with Don. I try my best to imitate Archie when Don and I play.

We were so sorry to hear of the loss of your Dad.  Please accept our deepest sympathy and know that you and Archie have been on our minds and hearts these last several months.  One of our fondest memories was watching Lucy and Ethel compete for his attention, one making it to his lap and the other resting her head on his shoes.  They also understood how special he was.  Just as we understand how special you are, Don and Devera, for the loving care and companionship given to Archie when he moved to Florida.  We share your grief and send our love.

I will always remember Archie dooddly dooddling at the golf course. I kind of think Jimmy seems to be taking his place. Archie was quite a cool guy...never seem to let anything bother him. Dear Brother,

You have fought the currents of llfe, now rest in peace.

As your health declined, you did not complain;  you did not ask, "why me?"; and you met each day with renewed determination.

I am so happy that we had five days together a few weeks before you departed this world.  As Chet chauffeured Joyce and me and you, the four of us slipped our cares as we rode nowhere in particular, watching the scenery fly by on warm, sunny days around St. Petersburg and Tampa.  You even joked some and your appetite was better.  I would like to think you were coming to terms with what was ahead.

Of the times I have felt close to you, I think of when I was 14 in World War II and you were in the Navy.  You came home on leave and took time to treat me to a movie.  I remember how I swelled with pride as I walked down the street to the Drake Theater with my big brother in his dress Navy blues, hoping alll would see us.

As is natural with brothers, we have not always chosen the same paths through the tangles of life, but I cannot remember a single time when we had a face-to-face unpleasantness.

All of us are born innocent.  Many things along the way create the baggage that weighs us down, and causes us to turn left or right.

Pray for us as Joyce and I pray for you.
