Born and raised in Jersey City, Mr. Gentile lived in Secaucus for 34 years.
Tom was the Principal at St. Aloysius High School in Jersey City, before becoming the Supervisor for Humanities for the Sayreville Board of Education. He was also an adjunct professor for St. Peter’s University in Jersey City for 40 years.
Pre-deceased by his sister Barbara Payne in 2010, he is survived by his loving wife Joann of 34 years, a son Thomas Joseph of Chicago IL, a daughter Michele of Secaucus, his sister Doreen Bertolini and her husband Joseph of Florham Park, a sister-in-law Judy Sharkey and her husband Brian of Forked River, a niece Dineen Rodriguez, and a nephew Keith Gahr.
Visitation will be held on Thursday December 14th from 3 to 8pm, Mack Memorial Home, 1245 Paterson Plank Road, Secaucus, NJ 07094. A Mass of Christion burial will be held on Friday, December 15th at 930am, Immaculate Conception Church, 1219 Paterson Plank Road, Secaucus, NJ 07094. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Mr. Gentile’s name to the ASPCA.
