Lillian Dolores Danys (nee Ferrara), Mom, Grams, Aunt Pee-Wee, as she was known, passed away peacefully on October 30th 2020, at the age of 83. She was predeceased by her parents, Ralph and Gertrude Muratore Ferrara, and her sisters Mae Allis, Camille Schick, Virginia Surak, Gloria Rizzi, Gertrude Slater, and Norma Zitman. She is survived by her husband Stephen, her sons Anthony and his wife Cheryl, and James, and her daughters, Joanne Tullo and her husband Alex, and Lori Ann Meehan, and her brother Ralph Ferrara. She is also a beloved grandmother to Steven, Alex, Toni Ann, Victoria, Alyssa, Dominick, Anthony, AJ, and Nicole, and her 10 great-grandchildren.
Lillian was born in the Bronx, New York on March 28, 1937 where she lived until her family moved to Secaucus, New Jersey in 1941, her permanent home. This is where she would grow up and raise her own children.
She was a hardworking woman with a huge heart and witty sense of humor. There wasn’t anything she loved more than being surrounded by family and those she loved. She was always the life of the party or family gathering. She loved caring for her garden and raising many dogs. In the 70’s and 80’s Lillian was the owner of Melody Inn in West New York. She later worked for the Secaucus School District from 1995-2014, where she enjoyed cooking and serving meals for thousands of students.
Lillian enjoyed telling stories of her childhood, most specifically about the wonderful weekends her and her family spent at their summer home in Belmar.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 3 from 4 to 8 pm at Mack Memorial Home, 1245 Paterson Plank Rd., Secaucus, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, November 4 at 9:30 am at Immaculate Conception Church, Secaucus, NJ. Private cremation to follow.
