Born in Jersey City, NJ to Frances and Dominic Martorano. He served his country proudly in the US Marines during the Vietnam era from 1960-1965, primarily stationed in Washington DC. During that time James would begin his life’s work as a photographer, and would go on to be the owner of the Meadowlands Photography Studio. He was the Commander of the AMVETS Post 20, and was awarded the 2023 New Jersey AMVETS Commander of the Year. He was also an avid fly fisherman, and enjoyed fly tying, as well as spending time at the Cigar Emporium in Lyndhurst. He was a dedicated grandfather who attended all of his grandsons sporting events and activities.
Beloved father of Marie Reese and her husband Chad, Jimmy Martorano and his fiancée Nicole Rocco, and Peter Martorano; loving grandfather of Zachary and Aidan Martorano; and cherished brother of the late Frances Manning and her husband Robert, and Marie Rocco and her late husband James. James also leaves behind many loving nieces, close family members, and dear friends.
A visitation for James will be held Thursday, June 1, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Mack Memorial Home, 1245 Paterson Plank Road, Secaucus, NJ 07094. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, June 2, from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at Immaculate Conception Church, Secaucus, NJ. A private cremation will follow.
