Bill is survived by his wife Rosa, daughter Alexandra, sister Donna, brother James, step-daughter Renee Melissa, son-in-law Eustaquio, and grandsons Christian and Benjamin.
Bill loved sailboats, Harleys, the ocean, sand, working with his hands, cooking, teaching, reading literature and people, playing ball with his grandsons, sharing time with friends and family, heated political debates, listening to rock and roll, Latin and reggae music, and traveling Anthony Bourdain style – no reservations!
Bill especially loved traveling the Caribbean and exploring the many remote islands and secluded beaches aboard a sailboat; sailing in the silence of the full moon, star lit Caribbean skies, and happening upon a boisterous Bomba shack party was always a welcomed surprise that required he and his wife Rosa’s partaking of dance and revelry into the wee hours of the morning. His wife Rosa, which he lovingly referred to as “Sweets,” recalls lazily awakening the next day and reminiscing over coffee and much laughter the adventures of the night before.
Bill had an uncanny natural ability to communicate and make friends without words; traveling to Ecuador with his Sweets he made endless friends without uttering a word of Spanish. Bill was loved by all and his kind, kind soul seemed to reveal itself to those around him without need for words.
His wife's fondest memories are of sitting with Bill sipping margaritas on the beach, sitting under an umbrella with sand between their toes, his arm gently draped over her shoulder, and sharing their dreams, painting vivid pictures in their minds of what the future might hold. Bill’s last dream shared with Rosa, just days before his passing, was to purchase a boat house on Lake Union where they dreamed of living their life together, on the water, until the end of time…
As a tribute to Bill and an acclamation of her love for him, she would like to share the following sentiments that best describe her immense and immeasurable love for him…
I've never loved anyone the way I have loved you.
I've never known someone so well and still felt there was so much left to discover...
never been able to say "I LOVE YOU" and have it mean something beautifully different everytime.
And even though I'll never be able to tell you with words how much you mean to me...
I hope you know that the love I feel for you is more beautiful, more meaningful than words could ever say.
Yours forever,
Sweets
