Trudy Levon Slanger, beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away tragically on April 11, 2024, in Lynnwood, WA. She was born on June 5th, 1940, in Deadwood, South Dakota, and spent her entire life spreading love and joy to those around her.
Trudy was deeply devoted to her husband of over 60 years, Gary Slanger, who preceded her in death five years ago. Their bond was unbreakable, having met as teenagers and never parting since. Together, they shared a life filled with love, laughter, and a passion for dancing that often filled their home with music and joy.
During the early 1960s, Trudy worked tirelessly as an orthodontic assistant in downtown Seattle to support Gary through dental school. Their partnership was a testament to their friendship and unwavering commitment to each other.
Known for her generous spirit and love for gatherings, Trudy was the life of every party. Her home on Lake Serene was a hub of laughter and celebration, where she welcomed friends and family with open arms. She thrived in the company of others, finding joy in giving and creating cherished memories.
Trudy's greatest joy in life came from being a mother and grandmother. She adored her children, Brett Slanger, Jami Szurek, and Lisa Russell, as well as her grandchildren, Devin, Jordyn, Gary, Charlotte, and Jade. Her nurturing nature knew no bounds, as she showered them with love and gifts, creating bonds that will last a lifetime.
Having moved to Washington at a young age, Trudy often reminisced about her childhood adventures in Almira and Raymond. She fondly recalled her parents, Larry and Lois Wilson, and the hotels they owned, where she spent her formative years. Her stories of marching in parades, twirling as a majorette for President Truman, and roller skating brought joy to those who listened.
Throughout her life, Trudy remained passionate about animals, always having a furry companion by her side. In her later years, she found solace in her faith, cherished moments with friends playing cards and bingo, and the excitement of winning at the casino.
Trudy's warmth, kindness, and infectious laughter touched the lives of all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love and joy that will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known her.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Sanctuary Church, PO Box 185, Lynnwood, WA 98046 in Trudy's memory.
A celebration of Trudy's life will be held on Friday, May 10th at 12:30pm where friends and family will come together to honor her remarkable spirit and the memories she created. The celebration of life will be held at Acacia Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 14951 Bothell Way Ne, Seattle, WA 98155.
Trudy may be gone from our sight, but she will forever remain in our hearts. May she rest in eternal peace, reunited with her beloved Gary, dancing among the stars.
