With heavy hearts we are so sad to share that Trina Julia Squire Hendricks, Ballard, WA passed away too soon on February 4, 2024 at the age of 52. Trina was the “ours” child, the cherished baby sister in a “yours, mine and ours” family. She was born on March 15, 1971 in Seattle to Carl and Sherrie Squire Hendricks, who predeceased her. She is survived by siblings Susan Hendricks (Dan Papke), Federal Way, WA; Pam Havens (Roger), Rathdrum, ID; Kevin Hendricks (Nancy Ryan), Seattle, WA and Dan MacLaren (Mary Rock), Ballard, WA along with six nieces and nephews: Roger Havens, Mary Moses (Dustin), Alexander Papke, Ethan MacLaren, Erica MacLaren and Penelope Hendricks. She also leaves many aunts, uncles and cousins as well as many dear friends. Her beloved cat Fernie was the light of her life (and is now adopted by her brother Dan and Mary.)
Trina was a colorful, unique personality with a clever sense of humor who lived life on her own terms. Where others have passing fads as they grow up, Trina was a devoted David Bowie fan for over 40 years. She grew up in Renton, WA and graduated from Liberty High School and Western Washington University with a BA in English Literature. She formed friendships that lasted a lifetime. She adored traveling the world and beginning in high school took many trips to locations such as England, France, Germany, Italy, Norway and Russia. She particularly loved London.
Trina loved spending time in the mountains - Silver Springs Campground near Mt. Rainier was her favorite place. In her own words, “We hiked for miles in the old growth woods, watching for deer or elk (no bears please!), walking along the sand and rocks along the White River, sitting around the campfire just talking, and ending the days playing Scrabble at the picnic table by lantern light.” Trina fought a valiant battle against multiple sclerosis for many years but before it caused her to retire, she took a solo overnight tent camping trip to Silver Springs and she and her family were so proud of her! She also took many trips throughout her life with her family, cousin Bonnie and friends to Westport, WA and enjoyed spending days on the beach, the stormier the weather the better!
She spent her career as a head receptionist, culminating in many years at Trident Seafoods in Ballard. She was the always-smiling face welcoming everyone who entered the building and warmly greeting all who called. She genuinely cared about others. The years passed so quickly from her being the adorable toddler who her older brothers and sisters fought over who she loved the most, to now passing from this world before them. Love and treasure your time with your family and friends. Trina’s final resting place will be at the Maple Valley Hobart Cemetery (WA) next to her beloved parents Carl and Sherrie (whom she affectionately referred to as “the Cutes”.)
