Tor was born to Olof Lundquist and Elvira Ericksson, oldest of 10 children, in Föllinge, Sweden. At age 4 on 2/10/27 Tor and his parents left Sweden for America. After stormy weather the Grisholm landed in Halifax, Canada. A rail trip ended in Seattle, and on to Renton where Olof had 2 sisters. After moving to Ballard, Tor graduated from Ballard High, 1941, and now had 2 brothers; Bert and Curt, and 3 sisters; Myrtle, Ruby and Jeanne with only Bert and Jeanne surviving now.
Tor joined the Navy on 1/12/1943 aspiring to become a pilot and future baseball great Ted Williams was in his class. Ultimately Tor became a flight instructor when he met his future wife, Marion Lorraine Cihlar, a gorgeous Wave who taught him Morse Code. They married on 6/23/1945 in Logansport, Indiana. After the service Tor became a successful District Manager for Farmers Insurance for 32 years until retirement.
Along the way they had 3 children, Greg (deceased), Darrel and Linda who spent many summers in the trailer traveling to Minnesota to see Marion’s parents. Tor has 5 grandchildren; Jessica, Brett, Alex, Sean and Danny. Tor enjoyed a long, loving, healthy, prosperous life and after Marion passed in 2001 was fortunate to find companionship afterwards.
