Susan Anne Shaw, 78, of Edmonds, WA passed away after a brief illness on October 29, 2021. Susan grew up on Beacon Hill and graduated from Cleveland High School in Seattle in 1961. She attended Washington State University for two years before moving to Santa Barbara to attend the Brooks Institute of Photography. She remained in California for several years where she married and had her son. Susan returned to Seattle in 1973 and later attended Seattle Central Community College where she received a degree in Architectural Drafting. Susan was able to put that degree to use, working at Frederick and Nelson in store-design for several years, and then worked for 22 years and retired from Raven Services at the NOAA campus on Lake Washington as a CAD operator.
Susan enjoyed finding unique treasures at garage sales, playing the slot machines at the casino, keeping up with current politics and events, and spending time with her family. She followed local sports, especially the Seahawks, and loved rooting for Russell Wilson. There was always lots of fun banter with her Husky family leading up to the Apple Cup. No matter how many times they lost, she was unwavering in her support of the Cougs. Susan loved to travel, and one of her favorite memories was a cruise to Alaska as a celebration for her parents’ 60th wedding anniversary.
Susan is preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Alice (Miller) Shaw. She is survived by her sister Sandra (Shaw) Williams, brother & sister-in-law John & Ruth Shaw, nephew Brian Shaw, niece Keri (Shaw) Launius, son and daughter-in-law Ryan & Chrisy (Simonson) Francescutti, and granddaughters Julia and Sofia Francescutti.
Susan was an impeccable gift wrapper and had the ability to find the best greeting cards for every person for every occasion. She will be missed by all that knew her. A small family memorial will be held in the future.
