Solveig passed away on June 2, 2010 in Seattle. Solveig Odney Hansen was born December 27th, 1924 in Alesund, Norway. She moved with her parents, Lars and Karen Ness and sister Kirsten to America in 1928. Two other sisters, Helene and Lois were born in Seattle.
She went to Ballard High School. After school she worked as a fabric manager at the Bon Marche in Seattle and then at the new store in Northgate.
She married Alf Hansen on July 22nd 1950. They had been married just 50 days short of 60 years. She had 4 daughters. Arlene (Rick), Sally(Erroll), Corine (Dave), and Gail(Bob). She has 8 granddaughters, 2 grandsons, 3 great grandsons, and 4 great granddaughters.
She enjoyed camping, going on walks with Alf and her dog Pepper. She was known for her Norwegian Christmas cookies and of course her lefsa. She loved flowers and was a member of the Mill Creek garden club. She loved going out to lunch with her girls.
She was a wonderful wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, and a friend to all who knew her and loved her. Her greatest joy was her family. She will be greatly missed!
