Sherry was born at Swedish Hospital on April 27, 1944. Two years after graduating from Federal Way High School in 1962, she married and moved to Japan for three years. During that time, she gave birth to her son, Curt in 1966. After returning to the States in 1968, she gave birth to her daughter, Christina. Sherry had one sister, Bev, who passed away in Feb. 2010.
Sherry worked at S&W Fine Foods for eighteen years. During that time, she married her current husband, Gareth.
She battled many cancers over a period of 27 years. Many people would approach her and make the comment she was so strong and an inspiration to everyone. Sherry would just tell them she was nothing more than just stubborn. Her doctor once told her, “Whatever you’re doing, keep it up, it seems to be working. There is presently no cancer, I don’t know of too many people who have had as much cancer as you’ve had, who are still walking around.” A few months later, she was diagnosed yet again with this terrible disease. Her stubborn attitude worked all those years, until she could no longer fight anymore. The disease won. She passed away on March 9, 2012.
She is survived by her husband, Gareth; son, Curt; daughter, Christina; step son, Travis; two grandchildren and two step grandchildren. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles.
