Sam attended high school at Blanchet High School in Seattle and then went on to college for a few years at the University of Washington. Rather than continuing on in his education, Sam enlisted in the United States Army and served 4 years some of which was overseas, some in Washington DC and some throughout the United States.
Following his military service Sam met and married the love of his life, Gail Tracy. To support his family he worked in Construction and ultimately became a Superintendent. He was a member of the Carpenters Local 131 and served as an apprenticeship instructor for many years. His career in the construction industry spanned 30+ years until his retirement in 2001.
Sam was also involved in other organizations such as the Catholic order of Foresters, the VFW and the American Legion. With the Catholic order of Foresters he served several years as the recording secretary.
When he wasn’t working you could find Sam fishing, hunting or working on his house. He enjoyed telling stories of his life with his family and friends. He had a sense of humor and loved to tease his children, Tracy and Sam, as well as the grandchildren. Later in life he took up the hobby of collecting and trading Hot Wheels.
Sam is preceded in death by his wife Gail, his parents, Everett and Agnes and his Stepfather Leo Fleury.
He is survived by his children, Tracy (Brian) Hensley and Samuel (Michele) Chedester Jr. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren; Zachary, Jacob, Brock and Dominique as well as one great-grandchild, London. He will also be missed by the many cousins and friends whose lives he touched.
Services for Sam have yet to be scheduled. Ultimately he will be laid to rest at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, WA.

"Speak of me as you have always done,
Remember the good times,
laughter and fun.
Share the happy memories we've made,
Do not let them wither or fade.
I'll be with you in the summer's sun,
And when the winter's chill has come.
I'll be the voice that whispers in the breeze,
I'm peaceful now, put your mind at ease.
I've rested my eyes and gone to sleep,
But memories we've shared are yours to keep.
Sometimes our final days may be a test,
But remember me when I was at my best.
Although things may not be the same,
Don't be afraid to use my name.
Let your sorrow last for just a while,
Comfort each other and try to smile.
I've lived a life filled with joy and fun,
Live on now, make me proud
of what you'll become"
