Ruth M. CARLSON Ruth Margaret Carlson was born in Rose Lake, Idaho to Swedish immigrant parents, William Johnson and Gertrude Forsblad Johnson on March 13, 1913. She was received in the arms of her Lord, Jesus Christ, on March 27, 2010 at 97 years of age. Ruth was raised in the Spokane area and graduated from Lewis and Clark HS in 1931. In 1935 she married Carl H. Carlson, a Swedish immigrant. The family moved to Seattle in 1950, residing in Angle Lake and Burien areas. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl, in 1967; brothers Roy and LaVerne and sister Rigmor. She is survived by daughters Shirley Keyes (Lyle) of Des Moines, WA and Arlene Burton (James) of Allyn, WA; five grandchildren, Edward Keyes, Allen Keyes, Pamela Keyes, Bradley Burton and Brenda Burton Peterson; step-grandson Norman Burton (deceased); nine great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild and two step-great-great-grandchildren. She was a wonderful mom and grandmother who was steeped in Swedish tradition in which family was the center. Her Swedish cooking and baking was a focal point on the holidays and other special family events. She was widowed for 43 years but remained a very strong and independent person and was never one to complain. She was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church since 1957. Memorial services will beheld at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 19030 8th Avenue South, SeaTac, WA on Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at 1:00p.m. In lieu of flowers, it was Ruth's wishes that remembrances be sent to Price of Peace Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.
