It is with heavy hearts that we announce, Rosendo Villanueva, age 93, passed after a long and well- lived life. A fighter until the end, he passed peacefully on April 9, 2024 in Tacoma Washington.
Rosendo grew up in Lobo, Batangas, Philippines, a town he loved and visited frequently. He is survived by loving wife, Mercedes, daughters Grace (Steve) and Tina (Craig), and grandchildren, Roman, Isabella and Quentin. Rosendo is predeceased by his father, Tomas Sr. and mother Maria and his siblings, Benjamin Villanueva, Virginia Ramirez, Aurora Balulot, Tomas Villanueva Jr., Azucena Aro, and has several nephews and nieces residing in the Philippines and United States.
Rosendo attended the University of St. Tomas, Manila Philippines for his pre medical degree and graduated from the College of Medicine and Surgery at Manila Central University in 1957. He then journeyed to the United States and started his internships and residency in Chicago, Illinois. In 1965, he was credited for Psychiatric residency by the University of Saskatchewan, Canada. This started his long career in Psychiatry. He retired from Western State University in 2004 at the ripe old age of 75.
Rosendo, (Papa Doc) was a man that always put the needs of others before his own and will be deeply missed. His presence brought joy to all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will forever be our angel. Rest in peace.
