Rose passed away December 12, 2001 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was born February 14, 1912 in Fayette, North Dakota to Magadalena Berger Kary and Anton Kary, German immigrants who migrated to this country in the early 1900's in order to escape the looming war erupting in Europe. They homesteaded a claim and raised various crops and cattle. Rose was the fifth child in this devout Catholic family of eleven children.
As a young woman Rose left the farm to become a beautician. After starting her new career, she contracted polio and was hospitalized for an extensive period. During her recovery she met and married her first husband, William Bradley Bridges, a civil engineer. Together for 22 years, they raised four girls, Carli Pryor of Kent, WA, Bette Phillips Easton of Federal Way, WA, Frances Phillips McConnell of Seattle, WA and Marilyn Bridges of Colorado Springs, Co. Rose also is survived by seven grandchildren and several great grandchildren, Rose was married for 38 years to her second husband, who passed away in 1999. As a result of this union, she added two special nieces to her family, Betty Bennett and June Marie Long.
During Rose's lifetime, she was an accomplished dancer, winning various contests, as well as an avid spa attendee and swimmer. She was a knowledgeable gardener and enjoyed reading, cooking, sewing, knitting, crocheting and playing cards Bridge, Pinochle and Canasta. She liked traveling and learning about each of the states in which she resided - North Dakota, Montana, Wyoming, Washington, California, New Mexico and Colorado.
Rose is survived by five of her siblings, Monica Tooley, Bridget Schwindt, Emma Muth and Mike Kary all of Dickinson, ND and Katherine Murphy of Sutherlin, OR. She was preceded in death by her brother Valentine Kary and sisters, Ann Marie, Barbara, Betty and Beatrice.
Rose will be interred at Evergreen-Washelli Cemetery in Seattle, WA. She enjoyed a full, robust life and will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
