With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of a remarkable man, Greg Payne, who departed this world on August 8th, 2023. He leaves behind a legacy of love, positivity, and countless cherished memories that will forever warm the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known him.
Born on June 26th, 1952, Greg lived a life brimming with passion, adventure, and an unwavering devotion to his family, faith, and pursuits. He was a doting father, grandfather, and friend, whose love for his children and grandchildren knew no bounds. His eyes would light up with joy whenever they were around, and his genuine care and affection served as a guiding light for his entire family.
Greg's sunny disposition and infectious smile were the hallmarks of his character. He carried an aura of positivity that was impossible to resist, uplifting the spirits of all those fortunate enough to cross his path. His ability to find the silver lining in every situation was a testament to his remarkable outlook on life.
His strong faith was the cornerstone of Greg's life. A devoted Christian, he embraced his spirituality with a whole heart, finding inspiration and strength in his beliefs. Greg was deeply moved by and had a profound impact on numerous lives through his involvement in his Christian groups and families. His faith illuminated the path he walked, guiding him in his interactions and endeavors, and serving as a source of comfort during challenging times.
His innate calling was to uplift and nurture those less fortunate around him. Whether through coaching or teaching, Greg dedicated his life to leaving a positive imprint on those within his sphere. He took the role of guiding numerous young individuals and, through his mentorship, transformed them into upstanding men, leaving a lasting impact on their lives.
A lover of nature’s warmer aspects, Greg found solace in life's simpler pleasures. Often seen strolling along the shoreline, his toes sinking into the sand, he loved the calming embrace of the ocean breeze while coming up with creative real estate solutions. His walks on the beach were more than moments of reflection; they were opportunities for him to share his infectious smile and positive outlook with those who walked alongside him.
A rich tapestry of passions and hobbies wove through his life's fabric. Greg held a deep affection for surfing, the thrill of cars and racing, and the joy of playing and coaching baseball and softball. His heart was an open door for the countless dogs that graced his life with their presence, adding an extra layer of warmth to his days. Lake Roesiger stood as his haven, a boundless reservoir of both joy and cherished memories.
Beyond his love for sun, sand, and warmth, Greg was an accomplished real estate investor, transforming opportunities into success stories with his insightful dedication and creativity. He generously shared his keen business acumen, teaching friends and family the art of successful investing.
Greg is survived by his children Tyson, Miles, David, Kiet, and Noah, along with their respective spouses; his grandchildren Zach, Kam, Evelyn, and Kai; and his two older brothers Steve and Brad. They will honor his memory by living their lives with the same love, resilience, and enthusiasm that he displayed every day. As we bid farewell to this extraordinary man, let us remember him not with tears of sorrow, but with smiles that mirror his own, and hearts forever touched by his boundless love and positivity.
A celebration of Greg's life will be held on August 20th at the National Nordic Museum from 3-5 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Ballard High School Athletic Booster Club, reflecting his deep commitment to raising young men.
May Greg's soul find eternal peace, and may his legacy forever inspire us to embrace life with the same joy, love, and enthusiasm that he so effortlessly shared with the world.
